Union of Jewish Students (UJS) piles pressure on TCD to deny Holocaust denier Griffin a platform at Philosoph
The last such controversial incident involving a speaker at the Philosoph in Dublin occurred in 1988, when the University invited Holocaust denier David Irving the chance to address the students.
Anti-fascist protesters are also expected to protest Griffin’s address, should it go ahead.
A university spokeswoman confirmed to Dublin’s The Evening Herald that the British National Party leader is set to appear at a Philosophical Society meeting on October 20.
The Union of Jewish Students — a UK organization representing Jewish students across the United Kingdom — urged the college to deny Griffin a platform to spout his views.
Griffin has previously denied the Holocaust, previously referring to it as a ‘Holohoax’.
